Since 2019, Big Head Leather has grown as a local staple through community markets and expansions into The ABQ Collective, the Albuquerque International Sunport, and other retailers throughout New Mexico.
However, despite this physical growth, their website remained an untapped channel, averaging only 1 to 2 sales per month.
We partnered with them to modernize their digital presence, beginning with a formalized brand strategy and a cohesive color palette that reflects the enduring nature of their goods. To anchor this new visual system, we introduced a one-of-a-kind Oryx icon and migrated their storefront to Shopify to provide a more robust digital home.
We activated this ecosystem through a targeted social media strategy from November to February, resulting in a 134.2% increase in accounts reached and a 40.5% increase in external link taps.
Beyond the storefront, we implemented a dedicated wholesale portal to alleviate manual order processing and integrated Klaviyo to establish a retention strategy and test email marketing. This included a custom welcome flow and 18 manual campaigns to warm their new domain—achieving a 25% average open rate despite leveraging a giveaway-based email list.
Even during periods of lower social and email activity, this new infrastructure has continued to perform. To date, the site has captured 3,904 total sessions and facilitated $1,662 in sales across 23 orders.
By bridging the gap between their local legacy and a modernized digital presence, we established a professional foundation that allows the brand to build their online presence and scale their wholesale operations with ease.
